Stud Unleashed: Barry was ALMOST a 5 for me….soooo very close that I almost said screw it and gave it the 5…but then the things that I didn’t like kept poking at me saying “nuhuhuh…you always say you’ll give an honest accurate review of your thoughts….” so it gets a 4…sorry!

I know that Barry has gotten some pretty amazing reviews on Goodreads already and I can’t blame them! Barry the dancing cow that can’t say probiotics properly is one sexy man!

Let’s start off with what I LOVED about this book

As usual, Kylie’s writing is way, way, way above par! Her writing style is amazing! It grabs the reader and drags them in…even if you weren’t ready for it! Amber and Barry’s relationship is amazing. It’s fun, witty, and so real that I couldn’t help but keep reading…and reading…and reading until my husband looked at me and asked “Are you ever going to put that book down and sleep??”

Umm…clearly I wasn’t! I sat up and read this book in one sitting! It totally rocked!!

The story line is just awesome, the characters are beautifully developed, and don’t even get me started on how perfect the romance is written! Everything flows so wonderfully and I just cannot get over how amazing Barry is! Barry is sweet, goofy, sexy and best of all (in my opinion…but I did marry an IT nerd lol) a bit nerdy! I’m not sure how anyone could NOT fall in love with him! Even though he does talk about his 6 pack abs and 2 pack butt A LOT! (Okay so this drove me absolutely nutty…I know he didn’t say it out loud all that much…but the man thought the exact same words over and over and over until I was about ready to break his DVD…which I probably should get a copy of lol)

Amber is one adorable, sexy bad ass artist with a sweet side. When her new next door neighbor develops into a friendship that she didn’t realize she needed until now, she gets scared when she has thoughts about him that aren’t quite friendly. Things are definitely escalated when Barry kisses her and it rocks her world! (Though the washing machine could have something to do with that right?)

After not one, but two dates that end in disaster Amber decides that enough is enough and they totally should stick to just being friends…if only Barry would give up as well!

When Barry lands a role in a local play that Amber is working on the set…lets just say that things get interesting!

So what didn’t I like about the book?

I’ve already mentioned the fact that Barry loves to think about his abs and butt…and it annoyed me greatly!

But there is a bit more that kept Stud Unleashed from being a 5 for me.

Let’s talk about how he likes to ‘hold her’ when they are together. Not just when they have sex…nope he likes to reach down, insert his fingers and ‘hold her’ whenever he gets the chance….

Umm..sorry but nope…not sexy to me…just sort of weird!

I even read a few instances of this happening to my hubs to see if it was just me…and nope…he thought it was creepy too!

Soo….Mr. Sexy Geek Dancing Cow Man…stop sitting around randomly with your fingers in your girl!!

Also…I was really upset with the way that Amber treated Barry…even when they were just friends! If she can’t accept all of him then she doesn’t deserve him! I mean really, making him take off the magnets from his car and telling him he can’t ever use the Moo button when she is in it. That’s just silly! She knew who she was getting with to begin with! Don’t try to change him!

As you can see…my reasons for Stud Unleashed: Barry not being a 5 have nothing to do with the writing…because come on…we all know that Kylie is one damn fine author! The story just had some quirks that ‘weren’t for me’ I guess you could say. 

If you are looking for a great read with a geeky romance then this is definitely the book for you! I know that I will most certainly be getting the rest of the books in the series!!

I’ve liked all of the Clover Park books, there is just something so natural about Kylie’s writing style that leaves me ready for more. I have to say that I believe Kissing Santa has been my favorite of them all!

Needless to say…I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!

Samantha isn’t having the best of luck with love…or so says her pushy mother! So of course her mom sets her up on a date…with none other than the player of all players!

Poor, poor Rico…

He sure isn’t your typical romance novel hero huh?

He has no freaking clue what he is doing! One second he is happy with his player ways and then his mom guilt trips him into going on this blind date…but she wasn’t at all what he was expecting! Once he meets Samantha he decides that maybe, just maybe, he should change his ways and try to be exactly what she wants!

After screwing up MASSIVELY (I won’t tell you how…but just know that I was amazed at his stupidity on this one…) on the first date, Rico lucks out and ends up with none other than Samantha sitting on his lap (while dressed as Santa of course) blurting out exactly what she is looking for!

Rico’s poorly executed attempts at romance are hilarious and sweet. I mean come on…what man does that?

(Not sure what I’m talking about…go buy the book…read a few chapters then come back!! I’ll wait right here…..

la..lala…lalalala….la…lala…lalalalala (picture elevator music or some such…)

Back?? Yep…see what I mean about the mailbox and such?? Uh huh! Who does that????)

Okay so now that we are back and I’m off my ramble…where was I?

Oh yeah, my adoration for Rico and his romantic attempts to woo Samantha. Hehe…Rico is such a sweet guy. He seriously puts forth more effort in this book than I have seen in a romance in a very long time!

Kylie’s writing style is just as awesome as the other 2 books! The characters are well developed, especially for a novella. The romance flows amazingly well and the humor mixed in is just perfect! I couldn’t have asked for more!

I am so very happy that I read this book and cannot get over how quickly I fell in love with Rico! I honestly wish that this was a full length novel instead of a novella. I could have kept reading his crazy antics forever!

This is book 2 in the Clover Park contemporary romance series. They don’t have to be read in order, but it’s more fun if you do!

Reality is overrated…

Exhausted single mom Daisy Garner is shocked when her blog about life with Darling Husband and Baby Delight in their charming Victorian home brings a national talk show to her door.

Amazing! Except she made the whole thing up.

Panic! Now she needs to borrow a Victorian house and find a man to play her fake husband on TV.

Travis O’Hare steps up for the role, as long as she’ll marry him for real. He wants their son to have the stable home life Travis never had.

But before the wedding can happen, Travis and Daisy have to get through the interview with a ratings hungry host and a slick producer with ties to Daisy’s troubled past. When a winter storm traps them all, it begs the question: can two people pretending at love finally discover the real thing?

Being a single mom didn’t turn out how Daisy had hoped. In order to cope with her colicky baby and working for her parents she creates her fantasy world…which just happens to include her fantasy hubby and puts it all into a blog she aptly named Daisy Does It All.

Now, after reading book 1 in this series it’s quite easy to get an opinion on Daisy. She is a care-free wild child that only looks out for herself. But, in this book, we get to see a side of her that we didn’t know existed. Yep, she screwed up when she faked the blog…and agreeing to be on TV was an even bigger stupid mistake. But none of that makes her a bad person.

Sweet and sexy Travis has been trying to be a part of Daisy’s life ever since they had their one night stand that lead to their adorable baby boy, but Daisy won’t have it. She is determined to be with someone because they want her…not because they feel obligated to take care of her.

When the two are forced together during a snow storm and have to play the happy couple for the TV crew that is trapped with them…well things heat up and get interesting quick.

While Daisy still isn’t one of my favorite characters, I absolutely adored this book. There are soooo many scenes that pop out at me when I try to think of what exactly made this book so wonderful. One of my faves includes a naked Travis outside in the snow! I won’t give away a spoiler of what happens out there…but just know…it’s an epic scene for sure!

The story line flows wonderfully, the characters are well developed and realistic (and a whole lot less whiny! Even Liz comes across a bit better in this book.), and the romance is sweet and swoon worthy! That’s not even mentioning how hilarious the book is! We get even more Maggie and her crazy antics, this time with the added pleasure of her having sex on a regular basis hehe

While Daisy drove me crazy with her inner monologue and self deprecating thoughts, it didn’t mess the story line up for me. I felt like this was an awesome story and while Daisy may have been a bit annoying, she is pretty dang realistic. We may not like to admit to having thoughts like Daisy does…but if we are honest with ourselves and others…it happens!

Overall, Daisy Does It All was a great read and has me on my toes for the next book! Be on the look out for the review!

Unleash the wild woman…?

Ex-cop Ryan O’Hare takes one look at buttoned-up control freak Liz Garner and just itches to loosen the woman up. Not that he’s into her. Because a woman like that comes with way too many expectations. Not to mention, she practically works for him, and he didn’t hire Liz to watch after his beloved Harley-stealing Gran so he could turn Liz loose in his bed. Still, there’s something about her, a hidden wild side, that makes him wonder what it would take.

Liz must be crazy to work for the insensitive, arrogant, horribly…hot man she’s avoided for years. Unfortunately, she needs the money and Ryan’s grandmother needs a keeper. (Midnight tango lessons and ziplines with Gran, anyone?) Ryan’s rare smile and swaggering confidence have Liz torn between throwing her favorite pinot grigio at his head or throwing herself at him. Can this control freak find a way to let loose with the tough, no-strings guy who once broke her heart?

I ran across Kylie’s debut novel The Opposite of Wild by complete accident and when I realized it was #FREE (at the time of posting) well I just couldn’t help myself!! The blurb is catchy and the cover is to die for! So I crossed my fingers that the story could meet my expectations and dove in!

Let’s talk characters a bit, this book has one hell of a mash up of characters that’s for sure!

Liz….poor, poor Liz! She is OCD and always has to be the ‘perfect’ one. In all honesty she comes across as a bit uppity and I didn’t like her in the beginning.Her borderline obsession with her sister’s baby was a bit bothersome…but I suppose I can understand where that is coming from as well. Then there is her treatment of poor sweet Ryan. That man did not earn a single bit of the way he is being treated. I still can’t get over the fact that Liz just up and decides to switch sides in ‘the game’ and use Ryan for sex. But no worries, she grows on you! I’ll admit to wanting to beat the crap out of Liz on several occasions for a variety of reasons….her quirks didn’t stop me from enjoying the story.

Ryan…oh good lord! This is one sexy as sin man and when you add in his behavior and treatment of Liz, lets just say that he is one amazing package! What man would put forth that much effort for a woman that is doing everything in her power to make it seem like she doesn’t want an actual relationship with him. I mean seriously…he knows he is being used for sex…and part of him is okay with that. Another part of him is ready for something more with Liz.

Want to know my fave character? 

Hands down…it’s Maggie! That woman is one hell of a lady and I can only hope that I am half that hilarious when I hit her age! I absolutely adored her!

Now let’s cover the issues I had with the book…

So…there is a reason that Liz has avoided Ryan for so long. I won’t spoil things and tell you exactly what it is…but I will say that it is brought up once or twice by each individual character…but NEVER dealt with between them! Also…Liz has this thing with people picking her up. She almost has a conniption when Ryan picks her up the first time and then not long after that she is perfectly fine with sex against a wall, among other things.

While this isn’t a game changer for me and I didn’t freak out and put the book down…I just felt like if this big incident has been hanging between them for 13 years…shouldn’t they at least discuss it? 

Anyways, so the book wasn’t perfect! Oh well, not many are and for a debut novel it was pretty awesome! I laughed like crazy and found myself curious about the other characters in the story. I’m so excited by the Clover Park series and just cannot wait to get my hands on the next one!
